Connect a Sending Tool Manually

TenantCore mailboxes can be used with sending platforms that support Microsoft 365 even when TenantCore does not yet automate that provider’s connection workflow. A manual connection does not mean the sending tool is unsupported. It means TenantCore does not currently have a direct integration that can complete or track the provider-side connection automatically.

Direct integration vs. manual connection

Direct TenantCore integration

For providers with a direct TenantCore integration, TenantCore can manage more of the workflow, such as:
  • provider account connection
  • mailbox selection
  • Microsoft authentication flow
  • connection status
  • retry behavior
  • disconnect/reconnect actions

Manual connection

For other sending tools, you connect the TenantCore mailbox through the provider’s normal Microsoft 365 onboarding flow. TenantCore still manages the underlying mailbox infrastructure, including:
  • mailbox creation
  • credentials
  • MFA
  • sending limits
  • DNS/authentication state
  • Outlook access
  • infrastructure monitoring
  • reputation monitoring
  • Reports
The provider-side mailbox connection is simply completed manually.

Before you begin

Depending on the sending platform, you may need:
  • mailbox email address
  • mailbox password
  • Microsoft MFA
  • Microsoft OAuth authorization
  • SMTP/IMAP settings if the provider still uses them
Always follow the current Microsoft 365 connection method documented by the sending platform.

Get the mailbox details from TenantCore

  1. Open the mailbox in TenantCore.
  2. Copy the mailbox email address.
  3. Reveal or copy the mailbox password if the provider requires it.
  4. If TenantCore-managed MFA is configured, request the current MFA code only when you need it.
Do not store the password or MFA secret in a spreadsheet or other unprotected location.

Connect the mailbox at the sending platform

Open the sending platform and follow its Microsoft 365 mailbox connection workflow. Depending on the provider, that may involve:
The exact screens are controlled by the sending platform and Microsoft, so they can differ between providers.

Keep the sending limit aligned

If TenantCore enforces a daily mailbox limit, configure the sending platform at or below that limit. For example:
The sending platform should not intentionally be configured to exceed the Microsoft-side policy you are enforcing through TenantCore.

What TenantCore can still monitor

Even without a direct provider integration, TenantCore can continue monitoring the infrastructure it controls, including:
  • Microsoft tenant health
  • domain DNS/authentication state
  • mailbox sending usage
  • sending reputation signals
  • alerts and notifications
  • Reports

What TenantCore may not know

Without a direct integration, TenantCore may not have provider-side visibility into:
  • whether the sending platform considers the mailbox connected
  • provider-specific connection errors
  • provider-side pause state
  • provider-side sending-limit settings
  • provider-specific campaign state
Those items remain inside the sending platform until a direct TenantCore integration is available.

When a direct integration becomes available

If TenantCore later adds a direct integration for the provider, you can move from the manual workflow to the integrated connection experience without changing the underlying TenantCore mailbox.
