# Connecting to Smartlead

> How to add TenantCore-provisioned mailboxes to Smartlead using Mailbox credentials.

## Overview

TenantCore does not connect to Smartlead directly. The integration happens at the mailbox level you retrieve credentials from TenantCore and enter them into Smartlead as email accounts.

***

## Prerequisites

* At least one mailbox provisioned in TenantCore with a **Verified** domain status
* A Smartlead account with available email account slots

***

## Step 1 — Retrieve Mailbox credentials from TenantCore

1. Open the TenantCore app and navigate to the **Mailboxes** page.
2. Find the mailbox you want to connect
3. Copy the credentials

***

## Step 2 — Add the email account in Smartlead

1. In Smartlead, go to **Email Accounts**
2. Click **Add Account** and select **Outlook** or **Microsoft 365**
3. Sign in with your Outlook credentials and click "Accept" when asked for permissions. This utilizes secure OAuth.
4. Once the status shows "Connected," your mailbox is ready for warm-up or campaigns.

***

## Step 3 — Configure send limits in Smartlead

<Warning>
  Set your Smartlead per-account send limit **at or below** the limit enforced in TenantCore. If Smartlead attempts to exceed the TenantCore limit, Exchange will block the excess messages and Smartlead may log delivery errors.
</Warning>

In Smartlead, open the email account settings and set:

* **Daily sending limit** — match this to the TenantCore mailbox limit or set it lower
* **Sending schedule** — distribute sends across business hours rather than sending in bursts

The TenantCore limit is the hard ceiling. Smartlead's limit is a scheduling guide. Keeping them aligned avoids unnecessary NDRs and delivery errors in Smartlead's logs.

***

## Repeat for each mailbox

Add each TenantCore mailbox as a separate email account in Smartlead. If you're managing multiple clients, use Smartlead's workspace or tagging features to keep client mailboxes organized.

***

## Troubleshooting

**Smartlead verification fails**

* Confirm the mailbox password was copied correctly, passwords are case-sensitive
* Check that the domain's DNS records have propagated and the domain shows as **healthy** in TenantCore
* Confirm the mailbox status is **Active** in TenantCore

**Delivery errors after connecting**

* If messages are being blocked, the Smartlead send limit likely exceeds the TenantCore mailbox limit
* Reduce Smartlead's daily limit to match or fall below the TenantCore limit
